Also, lets say you went to him and decieded on one thing but then you saw something else you would like? He allows you to make any and all changes (including a totally different style size decoration or types of cake) up to 2 days before its due.The pricing wasn't bad either. I had fresh flowers on my cake and he personally done everything with our cake. By the way the sweet tea is to die for! The Chef has you leave everything you want on the cake table either with him or at the reception hall because he sets it all up to make sure no one will mess up the cake. If you want something to eat or drink let him know and its free! Even when you go there to pay for the cake or talk to him or anything. Also while there he gives you decent size samples of cake so you can taste it. ![]() It doesnt matter the extent of it he will do all he can for you. I can't honestly say enough about The Coco Bean! First off the Chef is amazing! He meets personally with you and does a rough sketch to makes sure you get exactly what you want. I would recommend Cocoa Bean Cafe to anyone. Their baked goods and breakfast sold in the bakery are also very good. He made it shaped like a crab basket, and it was so realistic that a number of our wedding guests didn't know it was a cake! The main wedding cake was also beautiful, with some of the icing decorations based on the designs on my dress, and everything was delivered on time and exactly how we wanted it. ![]() We thought it was very impressive that he was willing to work with us and make a new flavor of cake, and it turned out to be delicious. We dropped in on the cafe a few days before the wedding, and Chef Anthony made time to sit down with us, review the final cake details, and let us taste the grooms cake - all without an appointment.Ĭhef Anthony was extremely flexible regarding flavors and toppings in the cake, to the point that he agreed to try to make our grooms cake with ube, a purple yam popular in the Philippines, even though he had never cooked with it before. Regarding customer service, Cocoa Bean was responsive to my calls and emails, which was crucial because I planned everything out of town. Chef Anthony and his staff provided outstanding customer service and a wedding cake and grooms cake that both looked and tasted fantastic. The Cocoa Bean cafe was one of my best vendors. I will continue to use Chef Anthony's cakes for any other events I have in the future. I am from the south shore and have made the drive back several times just to pick up a few sweets from the bakery. Like another reviewer noted, the bakery is well worth the visit, even if you're outside of the Hammond area. The finished cake was even more beautiful than I pictured-I was shocked how well the chef was able to recreate the exact flowers I wanted based on a picture I had emailed him. After the initial tasting and booking, most of my interaction was with the bakery staff rather than the chef but all of my questions, suggestions, etc. He really listened to our ideas and worked with our budget to find something that would meet all of our needs. He gave us an intensive tasting menu and allowed us to brainstorm and try countless varieties of cake, icing, filling, etc. ![]() Before I went to Cocoa Bean, I tried several other bakeries, including a local bakery that was described as "must have." NONE of those other chefs or cakes matched up to the quality of service and taste that The Cocoa Bean provided.Ĭhef Anthony was so friendly and easy to work with. I do not usually like cake, but I LOVED the wedding cake Chef Anthony made for me.
